Senior AWS Devops Engineer

Own the platform infrastructure for a SaaS product serving bodyshops, insurers, and repairers across Australia and the UK, handling high-traffic workloads daily.

You'll design, build, and evolve AWS infrastructure that engineering teams depend on every day. That means owning CI/CD pipelines, driving observability across the platform with Datadog, and embedding security practices from design through to deployment. This is a senior individual contributor role with real scope to define how the DevOps function matures as the company scales.

The team works hybrid out of a Mulgrave office, with a WFH equipment allowance to set you up properly at home. You'll be working in a modern AWS environment using Terraform or CDK for infrastructure as code, Datadog for APM, dashboards, and log management, and containerised workloads across Docker and ECS or Kubernetes. Feedback loops and developer experience are taken seriously here, not treated as an afterthought.

This is a newly created position, which means you're shaping it. The company has been running for two decades and knows what it's building, so you're not starting from scratch, but there's genuine room to set direction. You'll work as a peer alongside engineering teams, influencing how things get done without sitting above them in a hierarchy. At this size, the decisions you make are visible and they stick.

What You'll Do

• Design and evolve AWS infrastructure across networking, compute, and security services with a focus on reliability at scale.
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines across a multi-service codebase, keeping developer feedback loops fast.
• Build out observability using Datadog, including SLO definition, dashboards, monitors, and post-mortem processes.
• Embed shift-left security practices across the delivery lifecycle, from infrastructure design through to production deployment.

What You'll Need

• Strong hands-on AWS experience across networking, compute, and security, plus Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Practical Datadog experience covering APM, dashboards, monitors, and log management.
• Background in a SaaS product environment with high-availability requirements and real CI/CD ownership.
• Containerisation experience with Docker and either Kubernetes or ECS.
