Founding AI Engineer

Founding AI Engineer, Sydney CBD. Build the AI platform that runs an entire portfolio of operating businesses, not a demo, not a prototype.

You'll design and ship the core AI platform that powers a growing portfolio of services businesses being rebuilt as AI-native operations. That means multi-agent systems, knowledge graphs, RAG pipelines, agentic orchestration, and production evals, all end-to-end, all owned by you. You'll work directly with operators inside each business, translating messy real-world processes into systems that actually run.

This is four days a week in the Sydney CBD office. The team builds in person, which means fast feedback, direct conversation, and no ambiguity about what's working. The stack is frontier by design, and you'll be expected to stay at the edge of it.

The company is small by intention. Founding equity is on the table alongside a $200k-$230k base, and the capital structure is permanent, meaning no fundraising pressure and no artificial exit timeline bearing down on every decision. You'll have genuine autonomy over technical direction. There are no committees here. The people around you have built and scaled real businesses, and the advisors shaping technical vision include engineers and researchers behind some of the most significant AI work done anywhere. The trade-off is real: this is high-pressure, in-person, and the feedback loops are fast because the stakes are real. If that sounds like the right environment, it probably is.

What You'll Do

• Design multi-agent systems that automate complex, multi-step operational workflows end-to-end across the portfolio.
• Build and own the core AI platform, covering knowledge graphs, RAG, agentic orchestration, evals, and production deployment.
• Codify solutions into reusable platform primitives so each new business acquisition inherits what's already been proven.
• Own production rigour across cost, latency, and reliability, the engineering discipline that makes AI usable at scale.

What You'll Need

• Production experience building with LLMs and agents, including orchestration, evals, and deployment under real SLAs.
• Full-stack capability across data layer, backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure.
• A background that combines high-quality engineering discipline, ideally from a strong engineering organisation, with genuine zero-to-one startup experience.
• Comfort working inside messy, legacy systems where the spec and the database rarely agree.
