About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Dynatrace Observability Engineerto lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise observability capabilities across complex cloud and hybrid environments. This role will be responsible for driving monitoring strategy, implementing Dynatrace best practices, enabling Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles, and partnering with engineering, DevOps, architecture, and business teams to improve platform reliability, performance, and user experience. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert for Dynatrace, providing technical leadership, mentoring teams, and ensuring observability standards are embedded across the technology landscape.

Dynatrace Platform Ownership

Design, deploy, configure, and optimise Dynatrace across enterprise environments. Establish and maintain monitoring standards, governance frameworks, and observability best practices. Implement end-to-end monitoring for applications, infrastructure, cloud services, containers, and Kubernetes platforms.

Develop dashboards, management zones, alerting profiles, anomaly detection policies, and service-level objectives (SLOs).

Drive adoption of SRE principles and reliability-focused engineering practices. Design observability strategies that align with business and operational objectives. Implement distributed tracing, synthetic monitoring, real user monitoring (RUM), and session replay capabilities.

Define and improve service health indicators, reliability metrics, and operational KPIs.

Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations for critical incidents and recurring issues. Identify technical debt, reliability risks, and performance bottlenecks through proactive monitoring. Collaborate with engineering teams to reduce alert fatigue and improve signal quality.

Develop actionable observability insights that support faster incident detection and resolution.

Monitor and optimise workloads across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Kubernetes environments. Instrument cloud-native and microservices-based architectures. Integrate Dynatrace with CI/CD pipelines, cloud services, and DevOps tooling.

Support infrastructure-as-code initiatives and automated observability deployment practices.

Act as the primary Dynatrace SME across technology teams. Deliver training, workshops, and mentoring to developers, DevOps engineers, application support teams, and technical stakeholders. Provide consultancy and strategic guidance to architecture, product, UX, and technology leadership teams.

Promote observability maturity and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential

5years' experience in Observability, Monitoring, SRE, DevOps, or related engineering roles. Strong hands-on experience with Dynatraceadministration, implementation, and optimisation. Experience implementing enterprise observability frameworks and monitoring strategies.

Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and Google SRE practices. Experience with: AWS, Azure, and/or GCP Kubernetes and containerised environments Distributed tracing and application performance monitoring (APM) Real User Monitoring (RUM) and Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM) Strong incident management and root cause analysis capabilities. Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

Scripting or development experience using Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar languages.

Experience with other observability platforms such as: New Relic AppDynamics Grafana Sumo Logic Kibana Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Experience monitoring cloud-native applications and microservices architectures. Consulting, stakeholder management, or technical leadership experience.

Relevant certifications including Dynatrace, AWS, ITIL, or related cloud certifications.
