Role details
Own the technical direction of a travel booking platform expanding internationally, based out of a beachfront office in Broadbeach.
You'll lead hands-on engineering across a portfolio of B2X travel booking applications, splitting your time between Azure infrastructure and full-stack development in React/TypeScript and .NET. The balance between cloud ops and application work shifts as the business grows, so you need to be genuinely comfortable in both.
The office is in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, which is a genuine perk if you're based there or open to relocating. The team works within an agile setup and you'll have real autonomy over technical decisions, working directly with the Head of Engineering and a Solution Architect rather than through layers of management. The stack is modern throughout: Azure Container Apps, Bicep for infrastructure as code, API Management, GitHub Actions, and the team is actively adopting agentic AI tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot in day-to-day engineering.
This is a senior individual-contributor role, so you won't be managing people in a traditional sense. What you will do is set the technical standards, own code quality through peer review, and mentor the team on AI-assisted engineering practices. The business is growing internationally, which means the scope of what you're building is expanding. Travel industry perks, health and wellbeing programs, and volunteer leave round out the package.
What You'll Do
- Design, build and operate Azure infrastructure using Bicep, Container Apps, API Management and Key Vault across current and future architecture.
- Deliver full-stack engineering across B2X booking applications built on React/TypeScript and .NET, including RESTful API integrations with accommodation, air and inventory platforms.
- Lead the team's adoption of agentic AI engineering tools, setting patterns for Claude Code and GitHub Copilot and mentoring others to build capability.
- Own code quality and architectural standards through peer review, working closely with the Solution Architect to apply agreed patterns as an engineering discipline.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years as a Technical Lead or equivalent, with hands-on Azure infrastructure experience including microservices architecture and IaC via Bicep.
- Strong full-stack development skills in .NET and React/TypeScript, including Entity Framework, relational databases and RESTful API design.
- Proven experience with CI/CD tooling across Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or Octopus Deploy, plus DevOps and observability practices.
- Desirable: Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience and/or AWS exposure.
