Forward Deployed Engineer - Trusst.ai

Forward Deployed Engineer at an AI trust and safety startup, sitting directly at the intersection of product, engineering, and client delivery.

Role details

Forward Deployed Engineer at an AI trust and safety startup, sitting directly at the intersection of product, engineering, and client delivery.

You'll work embedded with enterprise clients to deploy and configure AI-powered solutions, troubleshoot technical issues in the field, and feed real-world product feedback back to the core engineering team. Think part solutions engineer, part software developer, part technical consultant.

The company builds AI infrastructure that organisations use to govern, audit, and trust their AI systems. It's a genuinely early-stage product in a space that's getting a lot of attention right now, which means the work is varied and the problems aren't solved yet. You'll be close to clients from day one, which suits someone who's comfortable in a room with a CTO as much as they are in a codebase.

Forward Deployed roles tend to blend more than most. One day you're writing integration code, the next you're walking a client through a technical implementation. The feedback loop between what you learn in the field and what the product team builds is short, so what you observe actually shapes what gets shipped.

What You'll Do

  • Deploy and configure AI solutions directly within enterprise client environments, owning the technical implementation end to end.
  • Write integration code and build lightweight tooling to connect the product with client systems and data sources.
  • Troubleshoot production issues in the field and work with the core engineering team to resolve them quickly.
  • Capture client feedback and translate it into clear technical requirements that feed back into the product roadmap.

What You'll Need

  • Solid software engineering background, comfortable writing production-quality code in Python or a similar language.
  • Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, or enterprise system integrations.
  • Ability to run technical conversations directly with client engineering and leadership teams.
  • Exposure to AI or ML tooling is a plus, though deep research experience isn't required.

About the Company

They're an AI trust and safety company building the infrastructure that helps enterprises govern and audit their AI systems. Early-stage, well-positioned in a category that's growing quickly, and small enough that what you build and learn genuinely shapes the direction of the product.
