Role details
Senior DevOps Engineer role in North Ryde, building the automation layer that cuts ERP deployment time from weeks to minutes across 20+ racks of privately managed infrastructure.
You'll work across a private cloud environment running Dell, Cisco, and Pure Storage hardware, owning containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management for a complex ERP product stack. The team is mid-transformation, moving away from VMware toward lighter container and hypervisor solutions, with an AI-driven module launching soon that you'll help get across the line.
The role is hybrid, three days in the office at North Ryde. You're working on real infrastructure, bare metal included, with meaningful automation problems to solve. The company runs its own private cloud by design, so data governance is taken seriously and the decisions you make actually stick.
The DevOps function has grown from one engineer to nine in a short period, with two more hires currently underway. That growth reflects genuine investment, not just headcount for headcount's sake. You'll have scope to lead, to own pieces of the architecture, and to work across ERP, BI, and internal systems. Attitude and aptitude matter more here than a perfectly polished CV.
What You'll Do
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket to reduce deployment cycles across the ERP stack.
- Manage Kubernetes-based container infrastructure and drive the migration away from VMware toward cost-effective alternatives.
- Automate configuration management using Puppet or Ansible, with Python and Bash scripting across Linux environments.
- Deploy and support complex environments including reverse proxies, SFTP, analytics tools, and forms alongside the core ERP platform.
What You'll Need
- Hands-on Kubernetes experience in production; Rancher experience is a bonus.
- Proficiency with Puppet or Ansible for configuration management, plus Python and Bash scripting.
- Experience operating Linux-based private cloud infrastructure, including bare metal environments.
- A background deploying complex, multi-component environments such as ERP stacks with supporting services.
About the Company
They're an ERP software company based in Sydney, operating their own private cloud across 20+ racks of in-house infrastructure. With a new AI module on the way and global expansion planned, the DevOps function is central to where the product goes next.
